PRIMARY HYDATID CYST OF THE THIGH - ABOUT A CASE AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

Hydatid disease is a parasitic infestation of humans and herbivorous animals, caused by Echinococcus granulosus. Dogs some wild carnivores, such as foxes, are definitive hosts, harboring worms in their intestines. Musculoskeletal cysts represent 0.7 to 3% the total number cases hydatidosis. Primary muscular hydatidosis without involvement thoracic or abdominal organs extremely rare. Intramuscular can mimic soft tissue tumor resulting inappropriate rupture cyst with associated risks anaphylaxis dissemination other organs. Preoperative evaluation therefore essential avoid life-threatening complications. We report case 64-year-old patient presenting cystic swelling thigh admitted emergency department for ruptured hydatid cyst. Surgical excision complementary pharmacological treatment necessary obtain complete cure.
